Recommendation
Approve the attached Resolution to submit an application and if approved accept \n \n $16,000 in funding from the Historic preservation Division's Historic \n \n Preservation Fund Grant.

Background
The Historic Columbus foundation, the Regional Development Council (RDC) and

the City of Columbus have collaborated to complete a grant application for

funding of development of Design Guidelines for the Liberty District. The

current Historic Preservation Design Guidelines that govern the Liberty

Heritage District provide general rules. However, the guidelines were

developed prior to historic designation and do not provide specific examples

from the area nor include the more detailed information that the City needs to

guide new construction and development.
Analysis
The Design Guidelines will be specifically for the Liberty Historic District.

The guidelines will be designed to complement the Master Plan developed for the

area.
Financial Considerations
This is a 40% match grant. The match in the amount of $4,800 will be provided

through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

Legal Considerations
City Council must approve all grant applications.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute all

documents related to the Design Guidelines Grant application.
