Approved
Background
The State of Georgia has requested transfer of the property. The site is

approximately 24.5 acres +/- (see attached maps). The frontage of the property

is on Chattsworth Road. Prior to the acquisition of the land by the Army (ca.

1941-42), the site was used for agricultural purposes. After the transfer of

the property to the City, it was to be rezoned M-2 (Heavy Industrial) or to a

category compatible with the proposed use by the Department of Corrections for

a Youth Detention Center.
Analysis
The site is undeveloped and wooded, although in (1994) timber cutting has

removed most of the mature stands of pines, with hardwoods of varying ages

remaining. The site area has all the specific needs for the development of a

Youth Detention Center and any other future development.
Financial Considerations
The property will be transferred by Quit Clam Deed for use as a Youth

Development Campus.
