Background
-
The revised Short Term Work Program and the Report of Accomplishments have been
reviewed by the Lower Chattahoochee Regional Development Center (LCRDC) and the
Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA). A regional review hearing was
held on July 29, 2003. There were no comments submitted concerning the City's
STWP.

Analysis

After review by the LCRDC and DCA (letter attached), it was determined that the
update was internally consistent and there are no conflicts with comprehensive
plans of other governmental units.

Financial Considerations

The projects in the Short Term Work Program will be considered when funding is
made available by the appropriate agency.

Legal Considerations

The Short Term Work Program is part of the State requirement of having in place
an approved comprehensive Plan. The Short Term Work Program has to be updated
every 5 years as a part of the Comprehensive Plan.

Recommendations/ Actions
-
The Columbus Condolidated Government must officially adopt the STWP update as
an amendment to the City's Comprehensive Plan. A resolution needs to be
adopted by Council. Once the Short Term Work Program resolution is adopted,
DCA will officially extend the City's Qualified Local Government Status.
