Approval is requested to accept the return of property that was transferred to \n \n the State of Georgia located between and adjacent to the West Georgia Crime Lab \n \n and the Driver?s License Bureau a/k/a the ?Old Crime Lab? (see attached map).

Background
The City previously transferred the property to the State of Georgia for a

Crime Lab. The State of Georgia has constructed a ?New Crime Lab? adjacent to

the ?Old Crime Lab?. The ?Old Crime Lab? is no longer needed by the State of

Georgia. It has been determined it would be in the best interest of the City

to allow the State of Georgia to return the ?Old Crime Lab?. The property is

currently being used as a Police Precinct.
Analysis
The building consists of 65,000 +/- sq. ft. The subject property is zoned A-1,

and is located between and adjacent to the new Crime Lab and the Driver?s

License Bureau.
Financial Considerations
The property will be transferred to the City without any cost associated

therewith.

Legal Considerations
Council must approve the acceptance of real estate.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the attached resolution to accept the above-identified property.





A RESOLUTION

NO. ___________

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RETURN OF PROPERTY THAT BORDERS THE WEST GEORGIA

CRIME LAB AND THE DRIVER?S LICENSE BUREAU A/K/A THE ?OLD CRIME LAB? BY THE

STATE OF GEORGIA (SEE ATTACHED MAPS).

WHEREAS, the above described property is to be returned to the City Land

Inventory; and,

WHEREAS, the Old Crime Lab is no longer needed by the State of Georgia and the

City is currently utilizing the property as a Police Precinct under a Lease

Agreement with the State of Georgia; and,



WHEREAS, there is no cost associated with the transfer; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,

Georgia to have the property returned to the City.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the transfer of the ?Old

Crime Lab? back to the City from the State of Georgia. The City will not incur

any cost associated with the transfer.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held

the _____day of ___________, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative

vote of __________ members of said Council.
