Recommendation
Approval is requested to declare 692 +/- acres City owed property in \n \n Chattahoochee County a/k/a Tax Map #002-0002, as surplus and authorize the sale \n \n of said property. (See Tax Map).

Background
The property has been in the possession of the City since 1996. This property

is the remainder of the property acquired for the NFL land swap with Fort

Benning. Said property is located in the southwestern portion of

Chattahoochee County near the west end of River Bend Road, on the north side of

this road and is a 692 +/- acre Tract. The property is 7 +/- miles southwest

of Cusseta, Georgia, the county seat for Chattahoochee County.
Analysis
The Property consists of 692 +/- acre located in Chattahoochee County a/k/a Tax

Map #002-0002. Subject property is zoned A-1. February 5, 1991 a Memorandum

of Agreement between the Mayor and Councilors of the Columbus Consolidated

Government agreed on the terms of purchase of the property.
Financial Considerations
The appraised fair market value of the property is $554,000. The property will

be transferred by Quit Claim Deed.

Legal Considerations
Council must approve the sale of real estate and newspaper notices shall be

published in accordance with Columbus Charter Section 7-501.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the attached Resolution declaring the property surplus and authorizing

the sale of the above identified property.
