Background
-
The City is in the process of buying Right of Way for St. Mary's Road Widening
Project)from Buena Vista Road to Robin Road). In the process of acquisition,
the City needs to acquire property from Hugh McMath Investment Company (Parcel
3). Adjacent to the McMath property is Parcel 4 that had to be purchased,
leaving a remainder Parcel 4R that is too small or shaped to be functional.
Hugh McMath requested that the city sell the remitment (4R) for the same price
we paid him for his property. They are the only adjoining property owner. The
selling of said property became part of the deal thereby allowing the City to
recuperate acquisition cost.
-
Analysis
-
Said property is a remainder of property needed for right of way. This action
is supported by the City Charter Sec. 7-501(4)
-
Financial Considerations
-
This action saves right of way cost and keeps property on the tax digest.
