Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Riverwalk Construction Between 12th Street to 13th Street

Recommendation

Approval is requested to enter into MOU with the Georgia Department of \n \n Transportation (GDOT) to accept a Transportation Enhancement grant in the \n \n amount of $2 million for the construction of the Riverwalk from the River Club \n \n to 13th Street.

Background

The development of the River Walk behind Eagle and Phenix Mill from the River

Club to 13th Street has been a part of the Riverwalk Master Plan. This area is

between the river and the Eagle

and Phenix Mill property. Council under Resolution No. 314-05 approved the

initial construction of this phase of the Riverwalk earlier this year.

Analysis

To accelerate this effort, GDOT has authorized the moving of funds from the

14th Street Bridge project ($1 million) and the Bibb Dam Riverwalk project ($1

million) to this section of the Riverwalk. Signing the MOU will require the

City to comply with all applicable GDOT program requirements.

Financial Considerations

Funding for the matching funds will be made available in the FY07 Budget.

Legal Considerations

Council is the approving authority for all resolutions.

Recommendations/ Actions

Approval is requested for a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter

into MOU with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to accept a

Transportation Enhancement grant in the amount of $2 million for the

construction of the Riverwalk from the River Club to 13th Street.
