Background
-
This parcel of property containing an historic structure is currently in an
estate. Historic Columbus Foundation wishes to purchase and rehabilitate the
house. There are several "title issues" involved in this parcel of property.
Historic Columbus foundation, Inc., has requested the City invoke eminent
domain proceedings to clear tittle. The house has Greek revival decorative
feature. The historic interior finishes include plaster on lath. Although the
condition of the house makes it hard to tell whether the lath was cut by
machine or by hand, rectangular nail heads were evident, making the date of the
structure being 1830 - present. This house is older than 1870 and may have
been moved to the 411 8th Street site from another location in Columbus.
