Background

The Department of Transportation has submitted a Local Government Project

Agreement for a road improvement project for the City to execute, which would

reconstruct/rehabilitate and widen the above mentioned project.

Analysis

This project has been approved by the DOT Commissioner to be put into the work

program; therefore, the City has indicated interest to participate in the

program.

Financial Considerations

Funding will be provided in a future Fiscal Year from the 99 SPLOST Fund, after

the DOT provides plans. The City will be responsible for Right of Way, Utility

re-location, furnish detours, and locate borrow and waste pits as needed.

Legal Considerations

The City Attorney has no objections to this Agreement.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROJECT

AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (D.O.T.) FOR THE BRIDGE

IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AT CS 2227/BROWN AVENUE @ SOUTHERN RAILROAD S.W. COLUMBUS,

PROJECT NO. BR-0004-00(729) MUSCOGEE COUNTY, PI# 0004729.

WHEREAS, the Georgia D.O.T. has approved, in their construction work program,

the road improvement project to reconstruct/rehabilitate Bridge at Brown Avenue

@ Southern Railroad in Columbus, Georgia; and,

WHEREAS, the City will be responsible for utility relocation, furnish detours

and waste pits as needed; and,

WHEREAS, the City Manager and Staff recommend that Council authorize the

execution of said Agreement

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY

RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a Local Government Project

Agreement and subsequent agreements necessary to implement this project with

the Georgia Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) for the

reconstruction/rehabilitate Bridge at Brown Avenue @ Southern Railroad, Road,

Project No. BR-004-00(729) Muscogee Co. PI# 0004729.



Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held
