Approve the Resolution authorizing the City Manager to grant an easement to \n \n Atmos Energy Corporation for the underground pipeline located at the center \n \n line of a 30 ft. easement at 0 Langdon Street a/k/a 086 056 072 in Columbus, \n \n Muscogee County, Georgia (see letter).

Background
The (360 ft+/-) easement is located and runs parallel to the west property

line of Lots 70 and 71 of Kevin Court and continues northwest to the John C.

Hammond Property (see Exhibit "A"). Atmos Energy has an existing easement on

Belinda Drive that is too narrow for the facilities in the 15-ft easement space

for drainage, water and gas. A new Gas Easement Agreement will tie-in with the

30 ft Hammond Property Easement that has been approve to cross Bull Creek from

Jacqueline Drive. The pipeline is located at the center line of a 30 ft.

easement with all piping underground at the Muscogee County Watershed at 0

Langdon Street a/k/a 086 056 072 at Bull Creek. The easement is located in the

flood plain and tree save area. Atmos Energy Corporation would like to

ingress, egress and regress to said property (see attachment named

"Right-of-Way and Easement" with map, Exhibit "A").
Analysis
The installation, repair and inspection to the pipeline, regulators and

appurtenance will not interfere with the current use of the property. The

easement would be granted with conditions as provided in the Right-of-Way and

Easement document attached. An easement will allow Atmos Energy Corporation to

enter upon said land at all times for the purpose to lay, maintain, operate,

remove or replace, a gas distribution main, regulators and all necessary

appurtenances. The Engineering Department has reviewed the request and

recommends the granting of said easement.

The granting of an easement at no cost to the City requires the approval of

Council.
