Background
The Edward Bryne Justice Assistance Grant is the replacement for the Local Law
Enforcement Grant and Edward Bryne Grant. The grant will focus primarily on a
broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal
justice system. This grant has slightly different requirements that impacted
the type of expenditures that could be purchased. Eligible projects for this
grant had to fall in the following programs: law enforcement; prosecution and
court; prevention and education; correction and community correction; drug
treatment and planning and evaluation. Lastly, this grant does not require a
local match and the award will be distributed immediately after acceptance from
the Department of Justice.
Analysis
A committee formed with representatives from public safety, judicial and
general government met and agreed upon the projects submitted for this grant as
outlined in Attachment A. We are required to have a public hearing for public
comment.

This grant does not require a local match from the General Fund.
