Background
-
The purpose of the program is to enhance traffic enforcement efforts in
Columbus and the West Central Georgia region of the state. Funding for this
program is provided by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety in the form of a
one-time small grant award of up to $15,000 for the period of October 1, 2009 -
September 30, 2010.
-
Analysis
-
The grants awarded in the initiative are limited to a maximum of $15,000. No
matching funds are required. Each project will be funded for a period of twelve
(12) months from the designated starting point of October 1, 2009. Locally,
Captain Curtis Lockette will manage the grant. The grant requests approval to
purchase $15,000 in supplies and equipment such as check point signs, tint
meters, flashlights, portable breath testers, embroidered shirts and jackets,
and other items to enforce traffic laws and educate and train the public in
highway safety. Projects under this category are not eligible for continuation
funding.
