Approval if requested to execute a project agreement with the Georgia \n \n Department of Transportation (DOT) to replace traffic signal controllers for 50 \n \n signalized intersections along state routes and adjoining streets with 2070 \n \n signal controllers with cabinets.

Background
The DOT has standardized on 2070 signal controllers with cabinets statewide for

traffic signal operation. The DOT with the assistance of local government

representatives thru the Advanced Traffic Controller committee developed an

equipment specification along with a statewide software license to operate said

controllers.
Analysis
This project provides funding in the amount of $477,476 to Columbus to purchase

2070 signal controllers with cabinets with Traffic Engineering crews performing

the installation of the new signal controllers/cabinets.
Financial Considerations
The City will purchase the controllers/cabinets and be reimbursed by the DOT

upon receipt of the purchase invoice.

Legal Considerations
An execution of a project agreement with the Georgia Department of

Transportation requires Council approval.
