Background
GASW(Gennesey Wyoming Railrioad) are initiating a program to replace some of

their tracks and crossings in the vicinity of their yard located on 7th

Street. They have also initiated efforts to locate an office in this area for

24 hour operation. Eighteen new employees have been hired and over $2.2

million will be spent in capital improvements.
Analysis
GASW has submitted a request for the City to participate in upgrading crossings

on 7th Street and on 8th Avenue at an estimate of cost $ with the use of

concrete panels similar to what has been used at other crossing within the

City. This will improve these crossings in connection with other infrastructure

construction underway in Liberty District Area.
Financial Considerations
Funds are available in the 1999 SPLOST Railroad Crossing Improvements Account.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
N/A Reduce the amount of staff time responding to the numerous

complaints/request received for this location.

Legal Considerations
Council is the approving authority for all resolutions.
