Recommendation
Approve the attached ordinance establishing ?Truck Restrictions? on Chattsworth \n \n Road and Midland Rd. Trucks exceeding the weight limit of seven (7) tons and/or \n \n a length of twenty-four (24) Feet shall be restricted on Chattsworth Road from \n \n Technology Parkway to Midland Road and Midland Road from Chattsworth Road to \n \n Macon Road, except to make a delivery or pickup.

Approved
Background
Citizens are having a difficult time traveling the narrow width of Chattsworth

when trucks are using the roadway as a cut-through from Macon Rd to Technology

Parkway. The roadway of Chattsworth Rd is 18 feet in width for two-way traffic,

as it is an old county road, which was taken over by the Columbus Consolidated

Government. The conditions are similar for the length of roadway from the

intersection with Technology Parkway to the turn at Midland Rd. A similar

provision is needed for Midland Rd form Chattsworth Rd to Macon Rd as this

roadway is also a part of the cut-through and not a destination for the truck

traffic..
Analysis
The proposed restriction will meet the needs of the residents of Chattsworth Rd

and Midland Rd and is justified by the width of the roadway. A more suitable

route for through trucks is available along Macon Rd/US 80 to its intersection

with Technology Parkway.
Financial Considerations
The cost of the ?Truck Restriction? signs would be approximately $125.00 each

and will be charged to the Traffic Engineering Budget
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
Legal Considerations
An Ordinance requires approval by Council.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve a ?Truck Restriction? Ordinance with provisions for the length of

Chattsworth Road from Technology Parkway to Midland Rd and for the length of

Midland Road from Chattsworth Rd to Macon Rd.
