Background
The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Consolidated Government

of Columbus, Georgia (the City) propose for construction of the above indicated

project on Whittlesey Road. The DOT has agreed to pay for the Right of Way

property that abuts Veterans Parkway involved in the Whittlesey Road widening

project. They agreed to this action because of the future widening of Veterans

Parkway Project planned in this area, which would require only disturbing this

intersection one time.
Analysis
This agreement is made and entered into by and between the DOT and the City for

the purpose of the DOT to reimburse the City for Right of Way cost on the

parcels that abuts Veterans Parkway.
Financial Considerations
The DOT will reimburse the City 100% of the right of way cost for properties

that abut Veterans Parkway when such costs have reached $3,000,000.00 or in

nine (9) months increments whichever occurs first of the right of way

purchased. The City has agreed and funds have been budgeted to acquire the

other parcels along Whittlesey Road that are not abutting Veterans Parkway by a

previous Resolution.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
Legal Considerations
The City Attorney has reviewed the facts of the contract.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the Resolution authorizing the execution of the Contract for

Acquisition of Right of Way State-Aid/Federal-Aid Project (Reimbursable) and

subsequent agreements necessary to implement the Whittlesey Road Widening

Project STP-8060(2), Muscogee County Georgia.
