Recommend approval of the attached ordinance deleting a segment of Whitesville \n \n Road Right-of-way in front of 5729 Whitesville Road consisting of approximately \n \n 547 square feet, more specifically defined by referenced survey, from the \n \n "Official Street Map, City of Columbus, Georgia" and declaring it surplus.

Background
Whitesville Road, part of the DOT Veterans Parkway Widening Project required

additional right-of-way beginning at the northwest curb of Veterans Parkway and

ending up in the center of the parcel at 5729 Whitesville Road. The existing

sign was in place prior to the widening project is now in conflict with the

City's Sign Ordinance.

A resolution will be presented at the second reading of this ordinance

authorizing quit claiming said right-of-way to the adjacent property owner.
Analysis
The deletion of this right-of-way does not cause any problems with the

operation of traffic along this section of Whitesville Road.
Financial Considerations
The deeding of referenced right-of-way will not include any exchange of funds.

Legal Considerations
The deletion of City Right-of-Way from the "Official Street Map, City of

Columbus, Georgia." requires Council approval.
Recommendations/ Actions
Council is requested to approve the attached ordinance deleting a segment of

approximately 547 square feet, more specifically defined by referenced survey,
