Approval is requested of the attached ordinance deleting from the "Official Map \n \n of the Consolidated Government of Columbus, Georgia" an unimproved segment of \n \n Ivy Avenue, north of Talbotton Road as surplus and authorize disposal in \n \n accordance with the City Code.

Background
Ivy Avenue has a segment of unimproved right-of-way north of Talbotton Road.

The adjacent property owner, The Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia (HACG)

has provided a letter of no interest in the right-of-way currently known as Ivy

Avenue. Ms. Suzanne H. Corley of 1057 ? 1059 Talbotton Road has made a formal

request by letter to quit claim the unused right-of-way.
Analysis
The proposed street abandonment of this segment of Ivy Avenue will allow access

to the rear of the property at 1057 ?1059 Talbotton Road when the

Talbotton/Warm Springs Rd widening project is complete. The City?s Community

Reinvestment Department will handle the property value and disposal of said

property.
Financial Considerations
Community Reinvestment Department will evaluate the property and determine its

value, and request action from council at a later date for sale of said

property.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
There will not be an annual fiscal impact due to this action.
Legal Considerations
The purpose of this ordinance is to declare this street surplus and to

authorize its disposal, which has to be approved by Council.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the ordinance declaring an unimproved segment of Ivy Avenue as surplus

and authorize its disposal.
