Approval is requested for the acquisition of the following properties for \n \n Aviation and Noise Easements for the use and operation of the Columbus \n \n Metropolitan Airport: \n \n \n \n 1. 5947 Lawson Street Tax Map # 082-048-004 \n \n \n \n 2. 4149 Desoto Drive Tax Map # 082-048-014 \n \n \n \n 3. 5570 Merle Avenue Tax Map # 188-006-005 \n \n \n \n 4. 5947 Cecil Avenue Tax Map # 082-047-006

Background
The City of Columbus, Georgia is the Governing Body of the Columbus

Metropolitan Airport for the purpose of condemnation. The above mentioned

properties have to be condemned because of Title issues (incapacitation,

deceased, heir issues, etc.).
Analysis
In order to allow the Airport to proceed with aviation improvements, it is

necessary to take ownership by condemnation. Funding will be paid by the

Airport that will be paid into the Court for distribution.
Financial Considerations
All related expenses will be paid by the Airport.

Legal Considerations
The City Attorney agrees to this action.
Recommendations/ Actions
Authorize the City Manager to order the Acquisition of said properties for

Aviation and Noise Easements and authorizing the filing of a Declaration of

Taking by the City Attorney or his representatives for the acquisition of said

properties under the authority of the official code of Georgia annotated,,

sections 6-3-20 and 32-3-1, et-seq.
