Approval is requested of a resolution to execute an agreement with Georgia \n \n Southwestern for reimbursement of material expenses for railroad crossing \n \n improvements at 10th Avenue at 5th Street, 10th Avenue near 8th Street and 8th \n \n Street at 9th Avenue in the amount of $42,872.

Background
The City is making an effort throughout the County to improve the railroad

crossings.
Analysis
Staff has met with representatives from Georgia Southwestern Railroad, Inc. An

estimate has been provided of cost for materials, $42,872. The proposed

material will be Poly-Seal Crossing Fillers that run along the rail on each

side. The Railroad will supply labor and equipment at an estimated

contribution of $44,240.48. City staff will coordinate work schedule with

Georgia Southwestern. Any milling and resurfacing will be paid as part of the

City's annual resurfacing contract.

Funds are available in the 1999 SPLOST Road Projects Account.

Council is the approving authority for all resolutions.

Authorize resolution for the City Manager to execute an agreement with Georgia

Southwestern Railroad, Inc. for railroad crossing improvements at 10th Avenue

at 5th Street, 10th Avenue near 8th Street and 8th Street at 9th Avenue in the

amount of $42, 872.
