Background
The Traffic Engineering Division has received a request to enact parking
restrictions along Forest Avenue, south of 17th Street. Vehicles parked on both
sides of Forest Avenue makes the safe flow of two way traffic difficult.
Parked vehicles restrict the travel way to one lane around a blind curve. The
original survey suggested restricting parking on the east curb from 8 AM to 6
PM Monday thru Friday. This side was chosen because it removed parking in front
of fewer houses. The returned surveys suggest that we install "No Parking Any
Time" restrictions along the west curb of Forest Avenue. The two property
owners that would be affected by having the parking restriction in front of
their houses concur with this plan.
Analysis
The Traffic Engineering Division Surveyed 12 property owners in the affected
area. Four (4)respones to move the restricted parking to the west curb of
Forest Avenue, two (2) responded to restrict both sides of Forest Avenue, One
(1) responded to restrict Monday through Saturday and one (1) responded "no
parking any time, both sides around the curve. Four (4) others did not respond.
After review of surveys we are recommending the parking restriction be assigned
to the west curb line of Forest Avenue.
