Recommendation
It is recommended that Columbus City Council vote to resolve to adopt the \n \n Commodities Distribution Plan as a valid and recognized emergency plan for the \n \n Columbus Consolidated Government, City of Columbus, GA.

Background
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency with the consurrence of the Federal

Emergency Management Agency recommends to all local jurisdictions to prepare,

publish, adopt and distribute emergency plans so that local governments will be

better prepared to provide necessary emergency services and assistance to it's

citizens in the event of emergency or disaster.
Analysis
This plan meets the requirement of maintaining the City of Columbus for state

disaster reimbursement funding as well as maintaining eligiblity for grants.

IT provides for the efficient and effective distribution of commodities such as

bottled water, ice, meals ready to eat and other commodities as needed or

available through "points of distribution throughout the jurisdiction.
Financial Considerations
There is no cost to the City of Columbus for adopting this plan as a valid and

recognized plan for Columbus.

This plan has been reviewed by the City Attorney.
