Background
Resolution 222-06, as approved by Council, authorized the City to receive funds

on behalf of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, from GDOT's

Transportation Enhancement program. The funds are to be used for the

restoration and preservation of the depot building.
Analysis
The project was initiated by the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and calls

for renovations and improvements to the depot. This project will improve and

protect an important historic landmark in our community.
Financial Considerations
The total grant amount awarded to the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and

the City is $294,842.59 for this project. A 20 percent match ($73,710.65) is

required and is solely the responsibility of Greater Columbus Chamber of

Commerce. The match will be required to be expended on renovation services,

prior to the use of the grant amount.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT

OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING UNDER THE TRANSPORTATION EQUITY ACT FOR THE 21ST

CENTURY FOR THE RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION OF THE COLUMBUS DEPOT.

WHEREAS, Resolution #222-06, as approved by Council, authorized the

City to receive funds on behalf of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce,

from Georgia Department of Transportation?s (GDOT) Transportation Enhancement

program for the restoration and preservation of the Columbus Depot building;

and,

WHEREAS, the grant requires a 20% match, which shall be provided by the

Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, for design services needed for the

proposed improvements in the amount not to exceed $73,710.65, prior to the

expenditure of any grant funds for this project; and,

WHEREAS, authorization is needed to amend the multi-governmental fund

by the amount of the grant and the match of $73,710.65 from the Greater

Columbus Chamber of Commerce; and



WHEREAS, authorization is needed for the City Manager to enter into

contractual agreement with GDOT to receive this funding.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to:



1. Enter into a contractual agreement with the Georgia Department of

Transportation to accept Transportation Enhancement Grant (P.I. No. 0008183,

Project No. TEE-0008-00 (183) under the provisions of this grant program, in

the amount of $294,842.59, along with the required 20% match from the Greater

Columbus Chamber of Commerce, which shall not exceed $73,710.65 and shall be

paid prior to the expenditure of the $294,842.59, grant; and,



2. Amend the multi-governmental fund by the amount of $294.842.59 for

the Transportation Enhancement Grant and $73,710.65 for the required match.
