Background
Funds have been allocated to the State of georgia to improved the Juvenile

Justice System in Georgia. Columbus is eligible for $7,500.
Analysis
The funds will be used for counseling services, psychological evaluations,

community service restitution and tutoring.
Financial Considerations
The grant is for $7,500. or the amount approved with no matching funds. The

funds will be used to provide services for youth referred to Juvenile Court.

The Columbus Consolidated Government has been notified of its eligibility to

receive the funds.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR, AND IF

AWARDED ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE COUNCIL OF JUVENILE COURT JUDGES FOR THE

COLUMBUS/MUSCOGEE COUNTY JUVENILE COURT TO FUND THE PURCHASE OF SERVICES FOR

JUVENILE OFFENDERS PROGRAM AND AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE

APPLICABLE AMOUNT.

WHEREAS, Columbus is eligible for $7,500.00; and,

WHEREAS, the grant period runs from October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2009.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit and if approved accept a

grant from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of Georgia for $7,500 or the

amount approved to fund the Columbus/Muscogee County Juvenile Court Purchase of

Services for Juvenile Offenders Program and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund

by the a like amount.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held

the _________day of _____________, and adopted at said meeting by the
