The Urban Glens project was one of several applications submitted to the John

S. and James L. Knight Foundation on behalf of the City of Columbus and its

various departments. The project was selected as one of the winners and the

Knight Foundation has approved the release of a grant to the City of Columbus

in the amount of $6,900.00 to implement the project idea and document the

process.
Analysis
As part of the grant application process, a budget was created that will cover

the costs of materials and labor. No additional funding will be required.
Financial Considerations
The project will be fully funded by the grant amount and all required steps

will be taken to meet grant funding requirements.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
The grant will be released to the City of Columbus within 60 days of receiving

approval from City Council and receipt of the signed grant contract.

A RESOLUTION

NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THEIR DESIGNEE TO APPLY FOR AND

ACCEPT, IF AWARDED, A GRANT FROM THE JOHN S. AND JAMES L. KNIGHT FOUNDATION IN

THE AMOUNT OF $6,900.00, OR AS OTHERWISE AWARDED, WITH NO LOCAL MATCH REQUIRED,

FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTING THE URBAN GLENS PROJECT, AND TO AMEND THE

MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF THE AWARD.

WHEREAS, the knight foundation awards communities for the implementation of

their ideas AND innovation in the area of civic engagement; and,

WHEREAS, Columbus, Georgia has been awarded a grant in the amount of $6,900.00

to implement the urban glens winning project idea; and,

WHEREAS, no matching funds shall be required by the city of Columbus, Georgia;

and,

WHEREAS, the grant shall be released to the city of columbus within 60 days of

approval from city council and reciept of signed grant agreement; and,

WHEREAS, the project will be implemented by the planning department, community

reinvestment division, and department of parks and recreation in accordance

with all grant requirements

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to receive a grant from the

John S. And James L. Knight Foundation in the amount of $6,900.00, or as

otherwise awarded, with no local match and to amend the Multi-Governmental Fund

by the amount awarded.
