Background

Technology Parkway will be the Primary Arterial roadway that serves Muscogee

Technology Park. The street has been improved by Georgia DOT (Department of

Transportation) and meets required specifications for acceptance by the City.

Analysis

The property was acquired as part of the Muscogee Technology Park project. The

street was constructed in order to expedite availability of industrial parcels

for development. The final road will run from Macon Road south through Muscogee

Technology Park and intersect Schatulga Road between Buena Vista Road and

Forrest Road.

Financial Considerations

Technology Parkway was constructed by the Georgia DOT through the TIP

(Transportation Improvement Program).

In order to clarify designation of Technology Parkway beginning at the south

right-of-way line of Chattsworth Road running south a distance of approximately

0.85 miles, located in Muscogee Technology Park, as a public street, a

resolution approved by Council is required.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING DESIGNATION OF THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED FOUR-LANE DIVIDED

ROADWAY AS TECHNOLOGY PARKWAY, BEGINNING AT THE SOUTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF

CHATTSWORTH ROAD AND RUNNING SOUTH A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 0.85 MILES,

LOCATED IN MUSCOGEE TECHNOLOGY PARK, AS A PUBLIC STREET.

WHEREAS, as part of the development of the Muscogee Technology Park, a street

was constructed by the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) through the

Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) as project # CSSTP-0008-00(635)

PI#0008635; and,

WHEREAS, said street has been improved by Georgia DOT and meets the required

specifications of a Public Street; and,

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department of Columbus, Georgia has inspected the

street and recommends designation of Technology Parkway, beginning at the south

right-of-way line of Chattsworth Road and running south a distance of

approximately 0.85 miles, located in Muscogee Technology Park, as a Public

Street.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to designate Technology Parkway as

a public street, beginning at the south right-of-way line of Chattsworth Road

and running south a distance of approximately 0.85 miles.
