Background
Columbus Technical College utilized this property as part of the horticulture
program offered by the college. The program was discontinued and the property
was declared surplus by the Technical College System of Georgia. The General
Assembly and the State Properties Commission approved the surplus of the
property and conveyance of the property to the Consolidated Government for
public purposes.
Analysis
The property is located adjacent to the Columbus Botanical Gardens and was
utilized by the agency in partnership with Columbus Technical College in
support of the horticulture program. The property is virtually land locked
and could not be developed due to the lack of street frontage. The property
has the potential to be utilized for public purposes for the benefit of the
community. The property is undeveloped woodlands and would not require ongoing
maintenance.
