Background
Resolution 189-06 authorizes the City Manager to enter into a MOU with UPtown
Columbus for the construction of the Riverwalk between 12th and 13th Streets.
Construction is underway, and offers the opportunity to utilize the contractor
for this project on the necessary improvements proposed under this proposed
amendment to the MOU.
Analysis
Improvements will include new streetscapes, sidewalks, stormwater utility
repairs, street repair and repaving to this section of 10th Street.
Financial Considerations
Funding for this $1,000,722 project is available under the Capital Improvement
Fund project 40236 (Friends of Columbus donations) and project 50701 (1999
SPLOST Parks and Greenspace projects)..

Legal Considerations
The City Attorney has reviewed the attached amendment to the existing
authorized MOU, and has approved it.

Approve the resolution authorizing the City Manager to amend the Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) between the City and UPtown Columbus, for completing the
necessary streetscapes improvements along 10th Street, from Front Avenue to Bay
Avenue, and the right of way area in front of the city parking garage.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH UPTOWN, INC.,
TO INCLUDE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE STREETSCAPES PROJECT ALONG 10TH STREET FROM
FRONT AVENUE TO BAY.
WHEREAS, Resolution 189-06 authorizes the City Manager to enter into an MOU
with Uptown, Inc. for the purposes of constructing certain sections of the
Riverwalk; and,
WHEREAS, the City seeks to make streetscape improvements along 10th Street,
between Front Avenue and Bay Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, both the City and Uptown, Inc. have the resources under the existing
MOU to complete the needed streetscape improvements for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement that
amends the existing MOU with Uptown Columbus, Inc., dated August 24, 2006, to
construct any and all necessary streetscape improvement along 10th Street, from
Front Avenue to Bay Avenue, not to exceed $1,000,722.
