Background
Funds have been allocated to the State of Georgia to improve the juvenile

justice system in Georgia. Columbus is eligible for additional funds for the

FY 09 grant period of October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009.
Analysis
The funds will be used for pre and post dispositional psychologicals.
Financial Considerations
The additional funds will require no matching funds. The funds will be used

to provide services for youth referred to Juvenile Court.

The Columbus Consolidated Government has been notified of its eligibility to

receive additional funds.
Recommendations/ Actions
Authorize a resolution to approve the City to submit an application for, and if

awarded, receive additional funds from the Council of Juvenile Court Judges of

Georgia for the Purchase of Services Grant for pre and post dispositional

psychologicals and to amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the

grant awarded.









A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR

ADDITIONAL FUNDING, AND IF AWARDED, ACCEPT ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE COUNCIL

OF JUVENILE COURT JUDGES WITH NO LOCAL MATCH REQUIREMENT, AND TO AMEND THE

MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE APPLICABLE AMOUNT.

WHEREAS, additional funds have been made available from the Office of

the Council of Juvenile Court Judges, for the purpose of improving the juvenile

justice system and providing services for juvenile offenders; and,

WHEREAS, Columbus is eligible for additional funds; and,

WHEREAS, the grant period runs from October 1, 2008 to September 30,

2009.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to submit

and if approved accept additional funds from the Council of Juvenile Judges of

Georgia to fund the Columbus/Muscogee County Juvenile Court Purchase of

Services for Juvenile Offenders Program, and to amend the Multi-Governmental

Fund by the amount of the additional funds awarded.
