Recommendation

Approval is requested to allow Columbus Youth Soccer Association to construct \n \n and/or expand additional fields at its own expense at Woodruff Farm Soccer \n \n Complex to include: Expand Field #6 from one field to 3, possibly 4 depending \n \n on cost of dealing with wetland issues, add four fields to the bottom fields \n \n and add concession/restroom building. All maintenance and utility costs \n \n associated with the additional fields will be the responsibility of the City of \n \n Columbus after construction is completed.

Background

In order to place a bid for the 2009 Regionals, Columbus Youth Soccer

Association must have 16 fields in one location. Columbus Youth Soccer

Association has examined other options, all of which would involve

constructing fields off-site. This would not meet the criteria for the

Regionals, and would add expenses.

Analysis

Columbus Youth Soccer Association has coordinated with the Muscogee County

School District and now need approval from City Council.

Financial Considerations

Columbus Youth Soccer Association will assume all costs associated with the

field construction and/or expansion. There is no cost to the City for the

construction/expansion. All maintenance and utility costs associated with the

additional fields will be the responsibility of the City of Columbus.
