Recommendation

Approval is requested to authorize the changing of the Official Street Maps and \n \n Tax Maps of the Columbus Consolidated Government of Columbus, Georgia by \n \n officially closing and abandoning a section of right of way for 15th Avenue \n \n beginning at the North Right of Way Line of 55th Street and 15th Avenue and \n \n running northerly for a distance of 150.0 ft. as shown on map or plat titled \n \n "Part of 15th Avenue Right-Of-Way"; authorize the disposal of the said right of \n \n way in accordance with applicable State Law; reserving easements; and for other \n \n purposes.

Background

The Department of Engineering and Community Reinvestment received an

application from Old Gregg LLC to acquire the unimproved section 15th Avenue

identified on the map or plat titled "15th Avenue Right-Of-Way" and prepared

by Moon, Meeks, Mason and Vinson, Inc.

Analysis

The applicant has maintained the property since 2012 and has requested

acquisition of the parcel in order to replat with adjoining properties already

owned. The owner of Lot Number 11(188-004-032) has indicated by the attached

document to cede any claim to ownership of the access road. Old Gregg LLC

intends to replat the parcel along with adjoining lots into 3 lots as shown on

the attached plat. No access from the commercial/retail property will be

permitted.

Financial Considerations

Old Gregg LLC will be responsible for all cost associated with the disposition

of the property.

Council approval is required to close and abandon public streets.
