Background
The Traffic Engineering Division received a request to enact parking
restrictions on 29th Street from Bradley Circle westward to the dead end of
29th Street. An investigation reveals this portion of 29th Street and all of
Bradley Circle are very narrow, having pavement approximately 14 feet from curb
to curb. Parking vehicles on both sides of the roadway prevents the flow of two
way traffic and hinders access by large City Service vehicles such as Garbage
Trucks, Fire and EMS vehicles.
Analysis
The Traffic Engineering Division surveyed 33 property owners, 6 agreed with the
proposed restriction, 4 did not agree with the proposed restriction, 5 surveys
were returned as undeliverable, and 18 did not respond.
Financial Considerations
The cost of installing Official Traffic Control signs will be derived from the
Traffic Engineering operating budget.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement
Legal Considerations
All ordinances require the approval of Council.
Recommendations/ Actions
Approve the ordinance enacting "No Parking Anytime" on the outer curb line of
Bradley Circle as indicated and on the northern curb line of 29th Street
between it's eastern and western intersection with Bradley Circle.
