Approve the attached ordinance enacting a No Parking Anytime Zone along the \n \n north and south curbs of Standing Boy Road from the east curb of Big Eddy Road \n \n east to the west curb of Winthrop Court.

Background

The bridge over Lake Oliver on Standing Boy Road just west of Winthrop Court

continues to have problems with people jumping off the bridge and swimming near

the bridge. City Code Section 14-47.6 prohibits jumping or diving into the

water from any bridge within Columbus. Still, vehicle park along Standing Boy

Road with people jumping/diving from this bridge and swimming.

Analysis

The Traffic Engineering Division mailed a Parking Survey to the adjacent

properties for which the above described parking prohibition is proposed. We

mailed five surveys receiving responses only two responses for which a summary

is attached. To asisst residents by discouraging parking near the bridge, the

above described No Parking Anytime Zone is recommended to Council.

Financial Considerations

The No Parking Zone signage will cost about $750 that will be derived from the

Traffic Engineering Division budget.
