Background
The Housing Authority of Columbus in its effort to revitalize Baker Village, is
submitting to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, an application for
Low-Income Housing Credits. The credits are needed to provide housing of this
type in the proposed new development. To increase their chances of being
funded under this program, the Baker Village Revitalization Plan is required to
be adopted as the official plan for this development. This plan was presented
earlier to the Council as part of the overall development activities for this
area.
Analysis
Adopting the revitalization plan for this area dated March 14, 2007 will
establish an official plan of action for this development, while providing
additional assistance for the low-income housing credit grant application.
Financial Considerations
Approving the revitalization plan and endorsing the low-income housing credit
grant application will offer additional state aid to this project.
